These are sectoral organisations and programmes that, among other things, are engaged in preparing professional standards, rules, recommendations and methods, data collection and analysis and drafting policies.
International cooperation can be divided into four fields:
- bilateral cooperation with other states;
- regional cooperation – NORDMET, NHF, HIRLAM
- cooperation with EU member states and within the framework of EU – EEA (European Environment Agency), EUMETSAT, EUMETNET, ECMWF, EUROSTAT
- global cooperation – WMO, ICAO, OECD, UNEP
